built on a love of fine writing and imagination.
We accept high quality literary pieces,
including poetry and short stories and we also include
artwork by our talented staff illustrator Stephen A. Colyer.

The Digest Mission

Among the many goals we have here at Punkin House Press for our literary magazine is the desire to create a place for the best sustainable and affordable literature. As the editor, I hope to help revive the lost art of the poem and short story. What was once a profitable, and more importantly, fulfilling profession has been banished as a hobby and not given the respect that it deserves, and I intend to help change that. Punkin House Press sees this brave new world of publishing as an opportunity to give writers their voice back.

What We're Looking For

Unlike many magazines that publish poetry and short stories, we are looking for quality over quantity, so above all else give us the best that you have. We publish poetry, essays, and fictional short stories inspired by a particular theme as well as art work by talented artists. What we do not publish is works that have been previously printed or published elsewhere, including anything that will appear in any upcoming publications.

As a literary magazine we place a strong emphasis on publishing only the finest, most engaging and entertaining works, and we will consider pieces from any genre as long as they are appropriate to the theme, so works from all different types of authors are encouraged. The main thing that we hope will tie these poems and stories together are a love of highly enjoyable and enthralling literature.

Guidelines

All pieces you wish to submit must be delivered in a separate attached file that is compatible with either Microsoft Word or Open Office. In the body of the email, please include your first and last name, email address and how you can be reached, for our records. Submit your work to Digest@punkinhouse.com under the subject heading "Punkin House Digest". After your submission you will receive an email letting you know we received your work and a time frame in which you can expect a formal response as to whether you will be included in our literary magazine or not.
